wwcitizen: (NJ - Greetings)

So, it's day three of the aftermath of Sandy hitting NYC & NNJ (where we are). We are healthy and safe and that's the main thing really. It's hard to keep that in mind without electricity, TV, or internet, not to mention hot water.  But Matt and I have truly been making the absolute BEST of a bad situation. And even though we can't have a grill or natural gas in the condo, I am evermore astounded by and thankful for living in a high rise.  We have security, we have regular community updates, we have neighbors close by, and there are local businesses that are open and easy to get to.

Matt & I have also decided that once in a while, we'll eat solely by candlelight again. One, it's like romantical and stuff, and second, it'll -hopefully - keep this experience fresh in our minds. Of course hoping that something like this hurricane doesn't happen again to this degree in the near future, but also to remind us that we should totally unplug from time to time.

My sciatica is still ever-present, but I'm making the best of the week. I'm still on a therapeutic cocktail of meds to get through the week not completely bed-ridden or handicapped,  for which I'm very thankful.

On the way home from a dance party, though, (alas, I can't dance this week) a friend of mine from Montreal saw Matt and me walking down the street. Normally, during Bear Week, I'm really playful and very active.  This year, I'm not.  :-(

My friend from Montreal didn't know about my sciatica.  He started to charge me. Matt moved to the side not thinking about the outcome until I started screaming, "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" The guy's impact wasn't that great, but I'd tensed up at the same time that Matt was trying to pull the guy away.

The guy felt so bad, when he realized that I was serious.  Wasn't his fault; he was being friendly as normal. No harm to existing problems was done but my left side was in slight pain from tensing up quickly.  :-(

All in the name of fun and frolic, but I really hope I wake up without new pain.  Could have been worse had Matt not been there.  :-)

For those not in the know or too scared to ask...

Here's a blurb from the profile of one of the bots (kumvjal) that popped up today:

"It will not tell itself about itself." - in Russian it's "Сама о себе рассказывать не буду."

Then, within one of the posts, it reads, "Сообщил предкам, что со студией я завязал," which means, "Ancestors were informed that I began with the studio."

Isn't that STUPID text? I know that these people just used random text generators, but there have to be better text generators out there that put up better stuff than that. Something a little more realistic. I bet that you could use random text generators to write an ENTIRE book!!

Is it me or are there ever more bots trying to poke into our journals? For each person that adds me as their friend, I check on the blog to see if it's a real person. Even if the profile has English text all over it, I look at the entries. Funny enough, almost every one of them of late has the same phrase about meeting a bride in a certain place - IN RUSSIAN! So, I'm reporting the bots. But, seriously, there have been about 10 supposed bots (with the same entries) in the last week alone! Is anyone else having the same problem?

It's interesting that the people creating the bots aren't that creative at all! LOL

Matthew and I went to the Bahamas (as many already know). Here's a link to our photos. Since I got a pretty decent sunburn on our first day out, most of these pictures were taken with my Nikon D40, which was THE BOMB!! Also, I switched out my 35-55mm lens with the 55-200mm telephoto lens (toward the end of the collection). Let me know what you think!!
