This is NOT Barbra Streisand
Apr. 27th, 2012 06:09 pmNo matter what Tokyo or Seoul say, this is NOT the Barbra Streisand song:
We were grocery shopping the other day at H Mart (one of our favorite - Korean - stores - and happily there are 4 within a 4-mile radius of our house). They always play their J-POP party dance America fun music NOW-turu and very loud-turu.
Compare that rendition to the "original". Seems like the Ooo-oooo-ooo-oooo Duck Sauce folks in the background have sold their little ditty around the world-turu.

A birthday song
Apr. 22nd, 2012 04:51 pmIt's somebody's birthday today
It's somebody's birthday today
The candles are lighted on somebody's cake
and we're all invited for somebody's sake
An old-fashioned table is set
for the one that we'll never forget
Happy Birthday to you and many more too
Because it's your birthday today.
This is an old song. I heard it at the very end of a video this morning that brought tears to my eyes. My sister sent this link on 22 Words this morning about secrets that this guy has collected over a few years. You should really watch this video - especially toward the end. I tend to do the same thing that that person did - and how sweet a memory.

Far Away...Far Away..Far Away
Oh I...Always try to save time.
In Life...nothing works the same twice
You know Jealousy..Jealousy...Jealousy...is still a friend of mine.
But it's gotta be, gotta be, gotta be worth another try
Cuz when I'm feeling you close, and when I'm feeling your shape.
And when you already know and now it's getting close
And when the lights go on
I can see it...all.
In every single day.
And I'm telling you now...
I'm never far away...I'm never far away.
So come on...
Stop it if you're wondering
There's no wrong...
Wrong in what we're doing
So Stop it, Stop if you're wondering.
I've got it all figured out
Just keep on doing what you're doing
And watch me turn it around..and around...and around...
Cuz when I'm feeling you close, and when I'm feeling your shape.
And when you already know and now it's getting close
And when the lights go on
I can see it...all.
In every single day.
And I'm telling you now...
I'm never far away...I'm never far away.
The video where I heard this was awful - about car crashes and people getting hit by cars when folks run red lights. I REALLY LIKE THIS SONG, but can't find it. The thing on the video says M1-Far Away, but that doesn't make sense. Can't find the artist. Can someone help?? PLEASE?
UPDATE: Found it on Amazon and bought the single; I remembered I had a promotional coupon for an MP3 download! SCORE!! YIPPEE!

Robbie Williams - Bodies Lyrics
May. 13th, 2010 12:46 pmJust found Robbie Williams' song Bodies. Never heard it before. This guy has really interesting lyrics - every time. Compelling. I found this song to be different from many other songs I've heard from him. I found this through looking up Cahill Club Mixes on Bearshare (bought a legal copy). I REALLY like the remix, which I heard first, but this is the original.
God gave me the sunshine,
Then showed me my lifeline
I was told it was all mine,
Then I got laid on a ley line
What a day, what a day,
And your Jesus really died for me
Then Jesus really tried for me
UK and entropy,
I feel like its ****in’ me
Wanna feed off the energy,
Love living like a deity
What a day, one day,
And your Jesus really died for me
I guess Jesus really tried for me
Bodies in the Bodhi tree,
Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family,
Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery,
And that’s the way it’s gonna be
All we’ve ever wanted
Is to look good naked
Hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection
From my reflection,
I want perfection
Praying for the rapture,
‘Cause it’s stranger getting stranger
And everything’s contagious
It’s the modern middle ages
All day every day
And if Jesus really died for me
Then Jesus really tried for me
Bodies in the Bodhi tree,
Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family,
Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery,
And that’s the way it’s gonna be
All we’ve ever wanted
Is to look good naked
Hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection

And that’s the way it’s gonna be
All we’ve ever wanted

Hope that someone can take it
So God save me rejection
From my reflection,
I want perfection
Jesus didn’t die for you, what do you want?
(I want perfection)
Jesus didn’t die for you, what are you on?
Oh Lord
(Jesus really died for you) Ohh
(Jesus really died for you)

This is maddening and fantastic! I could imagine actually dancing to this at a club, but more likely jiving to it playing loud in my car with a serious look on my face, slumped down into my seat wearing half-cocked sunglasses and a doo rag.
I do like me some Burger King.
And I'm just a little bit gayer.
Ok, maybe a lot gayer...
I do like me some Burger King.
And I'm just a little bit gayer.
Ok, maybe a lot gayer...
Hedwig - Wicked Little Town
Oct. 24th, 2007 11:08 pmLove this song - great movie, too (listen to the song as you read along):
You know, the sun is in your eyes
And hurricanes and rains
Black and cloudy skies
You're running up and down that hill
You turn it on and off at will
There's nothing here to thrill or bring you down
And if you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
Through the dark turns and noise
Of this wicked little town
Oh Lady Luck has led you here
And they're so twisted up
They'll twist you up, I fear
They're pious, hateful, and devout
You're turning tricks 'til you're turned out
The wind so cold it burns
You're burning out and blowing 'round
And if you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
Through the dark turns and noise
Of this wicked little town
The fates are vicious and they're cruel
You learn too late you've used
Two wishes
Like a fool
And then you're someone you are not
And Junction City ain't the spot
Remember Mrs. Lot and when she turned around
And if you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
Through the dark turns and noise
Of this wicked little town

You know, the sun is in your eyes
And hurricanes and rains
Black and cloudy skies
You're running up and down that hill
You turn it on and off at will
There's nothing here to thrill or bring you down
And if you've got no other choice

Mixed feelings
Sep. 30th, 2007 11:06 pmMy Spybot (after I updated it with the most recent upgrade and data) virtually deleted and killed by Bearshare this weekend. I was sad because the little bear face was off my desktop and I knew that without re-installing, I would not be able to find unusual music that hits me throughout the day, or without hearing the obscure stuff, I would be stuck in an unredemptive, unforgiving, and relentless repetition of stuff I didn't want to hear or wasn't able to get out of my head. So, I had to install what I think is the more recent version, which is supposed to SUCK!
So, aside from the work-related issues, lingering in my head was the thought of not being able to find music that I needed quickly. Bearshare had been wonderful. Kazaa had been wonderful. Napster had been FANTASTIC. But eventually all these software packages and groups had been either shut down or lessened in virtue and expanse. All but Bearshare, and I'm not sure why. Maybe cuz it's not known.
Given the current readership of my blog and other sites, I can't imagine that Bearshare's interest by the general populace would be that greatly increased. But still I have a version and simply by this post I am advertising to a group that might well be interested in owning a copy (by purchase) and therewith extrapolate any monies that I would have thrown toward the company. I should support the last-seeming peer-to-peer sharing conduit on the web, right?
We'll see.

So at the Korean market...
Jul. 15th, 2007 03:14 pmWe went to the Big H or the Hmart (sounds like a person with a hairlip saying it) to get groceries. Great shopping there - not good veggies outside of the greens and the specifically Korean / Japanese veggies. Fruits and regular American veggies, you can forget their quality - not good. My apricots lasted all of 3 days, when the Whole Foods fruits last at least a week out in the open.
We were walking through the veggie section toward the meats when I started singing to the music without realizing it... Matt turned to me and said, "YOU KNOW THIS?" It was a compilation, sort of medley of 80s Italian songs, all in English. Yep, I knew it - listen to it almost every day at work since it's in my music collections on my hard drive and on my MP3 player that I use on the way to work. He goes, "You're the ONLY one in this ENTIRE Korean-laden market who's singing this song. Even American-Italians don't know this song! I don't know this song (which is saying a lot about Matthew and his 80s music knowledge and exposure). You have such obscure and expansive tastes in music; I shouldn't really be surprised." And yet he was.

May. 30th, 2007 02:19 pm'Starz In Their Eyes' by Just Jack
They'll be making sure you stay amused
They'll fill you up with drugs and booze
Maybe you'll make the evening news
And when you're tripping over your dreams
They'll keep you down by any means
and by the end of the night you'll be stifling your screams
Since you became a VIPerson
It's like your problems have all worsened
Your paranoia casts aspersions
On the truths you know
And they'll just put you in the spotlight
And hope that you'll do alright
Or maybe not
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
So why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Starz in their eyes?
Remember they said you'd show them all
Emphasise the rise but not the fall
And now you're playing a shopping mall
Your mum and dad they can't believe
What you appear to have achieved
While the rest of these users are just laughing in their sleeves
Since you became a VIPerson
It's like your problems have all worsened
Your paranoia casts aspersions
On the truths you know
And now the tabloids use your face
To document your fall from grace
And then they'll tell you that that's just the way it goes
That's just the way it goes
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story well they just didn't realise
And it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machine
And Saturday night's drunken dreams
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story well they just didn't realise
And it's a long way to come from your private bedroom dance routines
And Saturday night's drunken dreams
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
So why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
Starz in their eyes?
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story well they just didn't realise
And it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machine
And Saturday night's drunken dreams
(When I grow up im going to be famous)
Behind the steel barrier and sequence and glitter
Five inch heels still knee deep in the litter
Each of them a bitter bullshitter,
Wrapped up in the cloak of fake glamour, getting lost in the camera
Well footprints are fools gold, diamonds crusts on their one off plimsolls
So little time for these one off arseholes
Rigour mortis Ken and Barbie dolls,
A pair of big shades and a push up bra,
It's such a short gap between the gutter and stars,
That you've come a long way from the place that you started
So why'd you wanna go and get so down hearted
Welcome to the kingdom of the blagger
Uncutting you nose clean, coating you bladder
A whole lot happier a whole lot sadder,
Used to be satisfied but now you feel like Mick Jagger,
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
It's the same old story well they just didn't realise
And it's a long way to come from the dog and duck karaoke machine
And Saturday night's drunken dreams
Now why do you wanna go and put starz in their eyes?
