Yesterday, as normal a buddy of mine and I were xhatting via Blackberry (a real nerdy thing to do). He was happy and excited that he was on a bus earlier than usual and going to get into his office ahead of schedule to begin the first really long week at work. Two or three minutes later when my bus had arrived, he mentioned that he thought his bus was disabled on the side of the NJ Turnpike. As I sat down in my seat close to the front of my bus, I heard an intercom announcement from bus dispatch about a disabled bus southbound on the Turnpike - bus 8243.
I sent a note to my buddy and asked him if that was his bus, to which he replied sadly, "Yep, that's me..."
I told him about hearing the announcement about his bus seconds after he'd told me that his bus was down. I asked excitedly, "Isn't that cool?!"
"Yeah, Steve... Really cool. Now I'm gonna be late..."
A few minutes later other buses began stopping to pick up the stranded passengers. The aoouncer came on to thank the buses that stopped for them and I gave my buddy that blow by blow.
"Yes, Steve, I'm living it, blow by blow (and not in the good way," was his basic reply.
