Dexter, Weeds, and Tivo

wwcitizenOne of my neighbors loves Dexter as much as Matt and I do. If you're not up to speed on the story, it's a Showtime show about a guy who as a kid witnessed his mother's murder and sat in her blood for two days before he was found. As a result, he's become a serial killer, but his adoptive father, a cop on the Miami police force, Harry, taught Dexter to kill people who deserved it rather than kill for killing's sake.
The premise is really interesting. The show is based on an awful book called Darkly Dreaming Dexter. Once in a while, my neighbor starts up a conversation about the show because of something in the show that surprised her, or that she can't wait to see fleshed out. Currently, she's intrigued with the complexities of Dexter's new girlfriend, and is glad to see Rita take the back burner. Matt thinks that Sgt. Doax is a drag queen: His brows are too tweazed...
We still have a Tivo'd episode of Weeds to watch, and that show is getting more and more interesting. The writers (and I'm all for the strike!!) are quite adept at providing REALLY good twists.
Thing is, we just got our new Tivo and Matt's setting it up today. I'm skeptical of the thing and the impetus for Tivo to have offered these new machines. I feel that for lifetime members, they're trying to kill the lifetimers and make them (who are hooked and addicted to Tivo) change to a month-by-month service agreement. But, since we got the digital cable, there have been little glitches that will hopefully be squelched with the upgrade. Thank goodness I'm not as vested in the thing or TV watching as Matt is.
