wwcitizen: (Does this Vespa make me look fat?)

Walking from the A train onto the street, it seemed as though the previously beautifully clear, blue sky had gone gray. I wouldn't have been surprised given the weekend and previous week's weather. But today's weather report was set for clear skies till three days from now. Before reaching street level, I realized that scaffolding had been erected for building maintenance work. There is a lot of construction all around lower Manhattan right now due to the WTC terrorism, so it wasn't surprising to see the scaffolds.
I kept walking down Church St., passing the E train entrance, and the Millenium Hotel to prepare to cut diagonally to my left continuing on the regular sidewalk from the provisional segment at the hotel.

All of a sudden I came upon a green fabric wall and turned around confused.

"Who moved my sidewalk?" I asked myself.

I noticed others having a similar reaction around me. To our right was an opening in the wall just to the left of bus-driven traffic. The construction had dictated the sidewalk be moved about 20 feet away from the building.

It certainly felt strange. It'll take a couple of days for my feet to get accustomed to the change for sure.
