Well, they weren't really Germans after all. I heard a different language being spoken by these two fellows next to me this morning and thought I heard some German. Not sure what their native tongue is, but it's NOT German. Not to be a language snob or anything (cuz they were two cute fellows heading into the city for their day of work - taking care of dogs for the day for peeps in the Upper West Side), but their comprehension, grammar, and pronuciation (once I got out of the bus and could hear better) were terrible! Then I asked one of them (the cuter one without bad breath and great legs) if they were native Germans. He said yes, but that he speaks a different language... that would typically mean that they were Turks living in Germany. They were from Frankfurt, and I can't imagine that GERMANS would move to the US (of all things - nowadays when the euro is sooooo much better than the dollar) to take care of dogs for a living.

But the interesting things are, they live close by, I might see them on the bus again, and they're gay - the one said they were partners, and I made sure I understood him to say, "Partners" and not "Business Partners"... not that it matters, but it's nice to know we have more family around than normally meets the eye. Oh, and there were lesbians on the bus this morning, too, from my area, but I didn't get a chance to say, "Home Depot!" or "Suburus!" and wish them a good day...
