Living in a condo on the 3rd floor of a high rise that allows animals bears (pun intended) its own set of interesting and fun things, as well as strange noises. When I moved in here, Matt had had a blue & gold macaw named Banjo, which Matt had had for 21 years. Fast forward 2 years and we're delivering the bird to a wildlife conservationist in upstate NY because the bird made too much noise! (Matt almost had a nervous breakdown because the bird wouldn't shut up during the day!)

Once in a while, we can hear a dog's bark through the vents. At one time, we heard other macaws or parrots in the building, but the fewer birds there are, I suppose, the less they'll chirp, squawk, and tweet.

However, every day we hear something from directly above our heads. Sometimes it's something that hits the floor above us (hardwood or tile floor) and rolls across the length of our ceiling. Other times, it's the sound of a chain - probably from whatever animal it is lying down on the tile/wood floor. There are other sounds, too, that I can't quite describe of things hitting the ground above us. Every now and then the distinctness of the noise or sound is so "close" that we swear there's something in the house with us, which invariably gives us goosebumps.

We took this video of Banjo in 2005 when we moved him into the living room, which Matt used to do from time to time before I moved in. We had just bought new toys for his perch (which you'll see Banjo play with) and Banjo started doing his happy dance, even though the bird HATED me. I'd never seen a parrot walk across a floor before.
