It's nice to know that one's voice IS being heard. I received this email today from one of our senators in response to a letter I sent to his administration about the repeal of DADT:

"Dear Mr. Lambeth:

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Your opinion is very important to me and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you on this vital issue.

You will be pleased to know that I (Senator Robert Menendez) am a cosponsor of S. 3065, the Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010, which would replace the current policy referred to as Don't Ask, Don't Tell with a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. I believe that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, or gender identity is a direct affront to the fundamental values of freedom upon which our nation was founded.

I appreciate your advocacy on this issue. The Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010 is an important way to show respect for the highly qualified members of our military who have had to lie or be discharged under Don't Ask Don't Tell. You can rest assured that I will continue to work in favor of individuals being recognized for their performance and not their sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, or gender identity.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. This issue is very important to me and I appreciate your support. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance. I invite you to visit my website to learn more about how I am standing up for New Jersey families in the US Senate.

Sincerely,

Senator Robert Menendez"
