I've taken to hiding people with whom I don't want to interact or whose posts I find less than appealing for various reasons. The reason I keep them on my list is their connections to other folks; i.e. Facebook, for me, is more of a marketing/networking tool than anything else. Although I've unfriended one or two people over the course of using FB, more frequently, I ignore friend requests. The requests I ignore most are from people whose pictures reveal nothing about the person, the person doesn't introduce themselves, there are no posts from the person on their wall for the last week or so, or there is something distinctly disturbing on their profile. I have had to block more than one person because of their insistence in friending me. If you block someone on FB before friending them, you become completely, utterly, and fully invisible to them. To them, you no longer exist. Interesting premise from the creators of FB.
That's my take on it.
