Saturday:
Got up at our crack of dawn - 9:00 AM - to pick up the tourists around 11:30 AM. My sister was wearing different shoes, and she explained that she had bad blisters from her new shoes she was wearing the day before; she hadn't broken them in yet! We had to be at Paradou for brunch at 12:45 PM, which we made a little early. The brunch was good, and we made the reservation through OpenTable; the restaurant put us down as a no-show. Yeah, we sent them all the transaction information and have another piece of correspondence listing out the conversations with the wait staff along with bird poop cleanings, and pictures to boot. We'll get it counted towards our bourgeoning OpenTable cheque. The service at Paradou and the food were both excellent - highly recommended, but make sure they don't gyp you on the reservation points if you're on OpenTable.
We went through Little Italy and Chinatown for the afternoon. We came upon a street fair in Little Italy, and a parade, which was REALLY cool - took tons of unncessary photos. Had fun looking at all the live fish and dried seafood in Chinatown, and had sorbet/ice cream at a local Italian place. My brother-in-law went into this gun shop on Grand St., which was typical for a redneck sauvant (which, even though he's from Chicago, he is).
That evening, we ended up at our reserved table at Peasant. Peasant is one of those restaurants you never forget. From the moment you walk in, to the time you to go to the bathroom to wash your hands, to the time you sit down, read the menu, smell the cooking food, and order your stuff through till when you get your first glass of wine and take your first bite of the delectible items you've ordered... everything about it is memorable. The whole grilled sea bass was so immensely tasty and buttery, it almost made me cry. THAT, I must say, has NEVER happened to me before - no matter where I've been in the world. Matt made the reservations there because he's been thinking of going to the restaurant for a good three years, and finally this was a perfect excuse to go there - to show off the restaurant to my sister and brother-in-law, which I thought was extremely sweet. We left there satiated and looking forward to returning to Peasant - definitely. One of the unique restaurants in the city.
