This morning I left the house with the sun bright in my eyes and my heart looking forward to the day, but getting on the bus, I noticed the bus driver. This was the bus driver from hell. The bus driver who left me standing in the cold rain without an umbrella six feet from the bus because I wasn't standing AT THE BUS STOP with the others when they were getting on the bus. This is the driver who flies through the streets and down the hills with reckless abandonment, terrorizing neighborhoods, not caring whose head bumps the ceiling in the process or whose possessions get strewn across the passengers on a Monday morning.

I was reluctant to get on the bus, but felt I had to - I hadn't taken the time to check on any other buses coming up the road. I was the last one on the bus at the stop and missed getting into the last seat on the bus. I had to stand on the trip into the city with the bus driver from hell at the helm. I discovered along the way, though, that no matter what curves or bumps the driver threw at me, no matter how fast he drove or hard he stopped, it was much easier for me to take and react to since I was standing! On the last ten minute leg of the trip, a seat opened up and I took it. By that point, it seemed that the driver's gusto was marred or he felt impaired by those standing in the aisle - he couldn't foil us! He wasn't able to take us down! This Monday morning, the sunshine again brightened the day and the angels have sung! All is now right in the world again.

Wonder if that bus driver knows that someone's blogging about him? Hmmmm...
