Exciting Times!
May. 22nd, 2009 08:04 pmLast night we went to see Star Trek with some friends, which is EXCELLENT! It is a must-see if you haven't gone yet - especially on the big screen. On the way home, a friend from San Francisco sent me a text message to ask whether we would like a condo - for free - in Hawaii for a week. Their friends who were supposed to go backed out at the last minute. Now, they can't reschedule the timeshare and the reservation would simply be lost this year.
Just so happens, we were in the process of planning out our next trip for early June to NC, but hadn't booked anything yet. We talked to our buddies, and planned a trip via San Francisco there and back - so that we wouldn't have to do 14 hours one way, and could take our friends who offered the condo out to dinner.
Matt discovered that we really didn't hit as many good restaurants in San Francisco as we should have. This will give us an opportunity to go to at least one or two of them. We'll have short days in SF, though, which is a shame; we have some plans the weekend after we get back. I was also hoping to have my colonoscopy next week, but I'm going to postpone that.
One other great thing about this condo in Hawaii (Kauai) is that there's a Costco on the island now. We've heard from lots of people already that Kauai is REALLY laid back. There's apparently not much to do other than sit on the beach or go hiking. The one gay bar on the island might have five people in it, and three of them are straight. So, we'll be able to economize on the eating bit and not have to worry about going out or anything.
Should be really fun all around! Can't wait!
