NOLA and Top Chef
Mar. 2nd, 2009 12:45 amWhen we left for NOLA for Mardi Gras, we hadn't watched the pre-finale Top Chef episode where the chefs went to New Orleans (we knew they were destined for NOLA). Then we didn't see either that show or the finale until well after we got back and had begun working on our photos. Without realizing it until this Saturday night (yesterday), we went to Emeril's Delmonico a week after the chefs were there in the restaurant - right below our table (we ate upstairs).
On Ash Wednesday when we were walking through the Garden District, we came upon the Commander's Palace - where they performed their last dinner serving. We passed by the restaurant (not knowing its stance in the New Orleans' culinary scene) and ended up at a Starbucks for green tea. A waiter passed by that we thought was really cute, and was still dressed in his full attire from whatever restaurant he had come from. I took a few pictures of him from across the street (below).

Who knew that was the waiter, Jamey, who was serving the plates and stood behind Padma during the show?? How oddly connected was that?? When we were watching the shows yesterday back to back, Matt and I kept pointing at the screen going, "Why didn't we see them? Why didn't WE go there? So, THAT's where they store the floats! OMG!! (slapping Matthew hard on the left thigh) OW! That's our little waiter from across from Starbucks!! We dashed into the office to look at the waiter pictures again, and sure enough - that was Jamey!!
