And another thing (Prop 8 stuff)
Nov. 11th, 2008 08:29 pmWe can vote in this country - vote on the president - yet we can't file joint tax returns as a couple? Just because we're gay and some religious fanatics think that our marriage will destroy theirs? WTF?? Seriously, they think that because we will be able to get married - legally - that they'll all of a sudden have a premise to get divorced?
Also, was it decided long ago by the people at large that WOMEN were legally allowed to vote or that blacks were allowed to vote, or that blacks were even allowed to marry legally or that women could legally own land or that blacks and whites could legally be married?
Also, it's strange that the adoption thing positioned from the discriminatory heterosexual community cites supportive parents. Amazing how many supportive parents actually get divorces in this country; so much for the sanctity of marriage or a supportive family environment. I could go on and on - even about the people who live in less than substandard situations continuing to pump out children because they'll get more child support. Or foster parents who take in more and more kids for more and more money, but don't supply a better home and family environment than they left. A married gay couple would provide both a supportive family environment, a safe home, and a good model of what a proper family should be - loving, together, nurturing. I could go on and on about this and many other topics, but the point's been made by me and so many other people - my words become ultra-superfluous.
What century is this??
