Civic Duty - again

Twice in one year, I ve been chosen for jury duty. Before today, it was about 2-3 yrs ago that I had to serve and 2 years before that. I'm wondering how random "random" is here. What kind of burns me is that at the last elections, I wasn't allowed to vote (during the Bush/Kerry election) because I'd changed my license to late.
So I'm serving again. Interesting twist, though: This service is for US District Court. My service is for two weeks. I was on call last week, and today's my first of possibly what could turn into an extra week of service.
The cool thing is the difference between the county jury setup in contrast to the district court setup. Much fancier here. There's a couch or two to read, a break-out room with cubicles. They have WiFi. Who knew?
Just got called and heading to court. So exciting!!
