wwcitizen: (My Best Popeye)

Arrrrrrgh!! No, that's not Popeye, though that's the name of my userpic here. That's the look on my face and a similar one on Matt's face this morning (yep, with bed-head to boot!) because of our new alarm clock - a car in our parking garage. The second floor is acting like a megaphone, which makes the sound EXTRA loud and piercing. The alarm on the car is one of those very annoying, 7-tiered, multi-faceted alarms so that everyone can hear it.

I have a few problems with this issue and here they are (besides being woken up 35 precious minutes early):

1) We live in a building with 598 other people; at least 300 of us are annoyed this morning (guaranteed the owner of the alarm lives on the other side of the building or on the 24th floor).
2) The alarm has been going off now for a grand total of 45 minutes STRAIGHT (I'm not exaggerating. Not one minute.).
3) This is the second time the alarm has gone off this morning.
4) When I called the front desk, Jose said, "We're trying to find out whose car it is." Yeah, that was 25 minutes ago and building security has everyone's car make, model, and license plate paired with the condo phone number - in cases like this or our lights are on, etc., etc.
5) Security walks around the parking lot every 30-45 minutes; it's been long enough for them to figure out whose car it is and rectify the issue.

Unbalanced issues with our building's expectations of its population:
* If we park in the loading zone of the building for 10 minutes (the pavement-painted limit is 5), we get a call from building security to move it or get towed - the car in that scenario is annoying maybe one or two people at best, or no one at all.
* We have building shopping carts with the building name on them to transport our goods from the car to the condo; if, god forbid, we have the cart in our condo for more than 15 minutes, we get a nasty call from building security - even if there are 10 other carts for others to grab. Keeping the cart an extra 15 minutes annoys ONE person - the security guard.
* If the elevators are taking more than 5 minutes to come to our floor because only one is working (there are three and sometimes one of these is used as a freight elevator - bad 70s architecture and planning) and we go out the emergency exit, we can get fined or $10 (we're not supposed to use the emergency exits without an emergency).

I'm so pissed off right now for Matthew who's here for another 2 hours, but now can't sleep. I have to get ready and go to work.
