This morning I decided that I wouldn't try to brave the MTA inadequacies or potential commuting chaos again. I hopped off the bus 15 mins into my commute to jump onto a ferry.

Alas, I had to wait 30 minutes after watching the previous ferry pull away as I walked across the street. It was a beautifully cool morning with a nice cool, salty breeze skirting off the Hudson River.

At Port Imperial, I was able to enjoy a coffee before the ferry. I ran into a friend who was running to his ferry bound for mid-town and that was fun. While waiting, I chatted with a friend of mine from my Blackberry and made plans for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory tonight.

When I got onto the ferry, I picked up a Daily News to read about the chaotic commute and the Brooklyn tornadoes from yesterday. One of the first things that struck me was all the references to sweat, heat, and swelter (detailed in my entry yesterday).

Springing off the boat downtown, I started walking and walking, but today I not only took a little more time, but I stopped in an Amish grocery store and got some tea bags for the office.

Days like today with this different commute add wonderful spice to my new New York-centered life.
