Just donated!
Nov. 15th, 2010 08:10 amI just donated to Wikimedia to keep the site free of advertising! You can do the same:

If Wikimedia isn't free, think of how awful the site would be to navigate and use. Keep it free! Keep it alive!
Here's what I wrote at the end of the donation to Wikimedia for their distribution:
"Wikimedia, and in particular Wikipedia, is a source of information that's quick to reach and easy to navigate. It's a where I go to find a general overview of almost any current topic, an historical person, or event. While I also know that Wikipedia is a worldwide collaborative effort, the information provided is becoming more and more reliable. Authors and contributors are cognizant of providing resources for their information.
Please help keep Wikimedia free! Donate today and throughout the year! Consider the encyclopedia sets your parents used to buy; they could cost a fortune and rarely be used to their full potential. Wikimedia is very different: It's the collective knowledge of the world coming together in a concise resource."
