Tunnel turrets

As my seat meighbor keeps falling into and out of his morning slumber, left leg twitching into mine, I longingly glance out at the Lincoln Tunnel Plaza and wonder, "Who ascends the tunnel turrets? Who carries the keys to those doors at the side of the plaza? What's behind those doors?"

There are these 20s-styled, Art Deco turrets that remind me of arbitrary Metropolis scenes in the plaza. I'd like to climb one one day.
