Right or Left Brained?

I did this quiz or one like it some time ago, and found it interesting that in one brief, 20-question quiz (or however many there were...) the little radio buttons reveal "so much" about a person. I know these things are a load of crap, but the results, are fun and interesting. I'm ever seeking to understand who I am and what makes me tick. Granted, I understand and analyze myself quite a bit as it is. I still have a mental picture of me sitting on my window sill in college - in my first home away from home - looking out over the dorm's courtyard smoking a cigarette in the mid-80s - making astounding discoveries about myself, my childhood, my upbringing, and my feelings about my future. Not to sound to "My Life on the Me List" or "Life After Steve", but I still feel I'm going somewhere and I have yet to arrive.

I also honestly admit that I hadn't planned on the diatribe above before I sat down and copied/pasted this questionnaire's results into my blog. Seriously, I didn't. Funny how these kinds of things just spill out as you begin to write...

Hot Italian Sausage

I had a little bit of my husbear's leftovers last night - he went to an Italian Restaurant in the city with his college buddies. Among the leftovers was tortellini with Alfredo sauce, veal Marsala, and chicken with peppers, potatoes, and Italian sausage. On my diet (where I've almost lost all of my post-Thanksgiving weight), I don't get much Italian sausage and in fact, not much sausage of any sort, unless it's low-fat chicken sausage or fat free beef franks. Clearly, though, not the same as Italian sausage. But having those morsels in my mouth last night - as we forewent our diets for one night - I salivated about, ate, savored, and swallowed some great Italian sausage. It reminded me of a poem I wrote a few years ago while dating my second Italian from Boston. Enjoy.

Italian Sausage

Thick and juicy
warm and tasty
The steam and the scent
pull me towards it

In a bed of hot oily sweat
the Italian sausage
awaits my mouth
and pleasure

Planning the savor
and anticipating
the feel, my mouth
waters

As I lick my lips
my ready hands
move me
toward the sausage

Dreamy state,
my tongue dives
and plunges to lick,
that thick, juicy morsel

Slowly, slowly my
tongue rolls it around
my mouth

Hot
Italian
Sausage
In my mouth!

Mmmmmm, savoring
tasting
enjoying
thick Italian sausage

My tongue squeezes
it squirts
the juice, ah, the juice
savoring still

I swallow
pleasure fulfilled;
anticipation surmounted
